Hotel Palazzo Niccolini is a small historic hotel in central Florence, set in an old aristocratic palazzo a short walk from the Duomo and about eight minutes from the Uffizi Gallery. Its 15 rooms and suites sit among 1700s frescoes, with lounges, a breakfast buffet and Italian food at Botteghe di Donatello. Families are welcome, and pets, parking and massage services are available. Reviewers praise the staff, cleanliness and breakfast, with scores around 9 out of 10. It suits travellers who want character and a central address rather than a modern chain hotel. The building's age shows in places, so expect some rustic touches, and rates start high at around $666 a night.
