Raw review scores bunch near the top, so we work out what each hotel's actually is. Across 83,713 hotels, platform ratings normalised to 0-5 average 3.20; corrected, the average is 3.16. Every hotel page shows its own working.
Review platforms collect ratings on narrow scales and most guests rate high, so raw scores bunch near the top of each scale and stop separating one hotel from the next.
Each platform we hold (Booking.com, Tripadvisor, Google, Agoda) is rescaled against that platform's own 5th-percentile floor in our corpus. Their average makes up 60% of the score, an AI score of the photo set 25%, and an AI reading of the review text 15%.
How far to trust the score. Fewer platforms, or platforms that disagree, widen it, and pull the score toward the average across every hotel (2.5 on the platform part, counted as 0.61 of a platform).
Solid: margin of 0.2 or less. Fair: 0.3 or less. Thin: wider. Of 83,713 hotels, 21,366 are solid, 36,058 fair and 26,289 thin.
No. Scores are computed the same way for every hotel before any booking link is attached, and nothing in the ranking can be bought.
A cached nightly price from a commercial hotel catalogue. It is not a live quote: the booking links open each site with your dates for the real rate.
