The Resort at Pelican Hill is a five-star resort in Newport Beach, California, set across 504 acres beside the Pacific Ocean. Accommodation consists of bungalows and villas with two to four bedrooms, built in an Italian Renaissance style, many with ocean views. Facilities include a full-service spa, two Tom Fazio-designed golf courses, swimming pools, a gym, restaurants and direct beach access, and the resort welcomes pets. It suits travellers wanting a large, self-contained resort stay for golf, spa time or a family holiday, provided they have the budget for it. Rates start at around $1,052 per night, so it is a considerable expense, and Booking.com scores suggest some guests found the value hard to justify.
