The Wittenberg by Cove is a four-star aparthotel set along a quiet canal in a residential neighbourhood of Amsterdam, housed in a restored 18th-century building. Its 115 furnished apartments come with well-equipped kitchens, Smart HD TVs and Wi-Fi, and there is a gym and a rooftop bar on site. The location suits families and travellers on longer stays who want space and self-catering rather than a conventional hotel room. Public transport, local shops and cafes are close by, with the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum within easy reach. One thing to weigh up: booking.com scores sit noticeably lower than the ratings on other review sites.
