Tru by Hilton Ankeny is a newer three-star hotel at 1230 SW District Drive in Ankeny, Iowa, near restaurants and local dining spots. Rooms are air-conditioned with private bathrooms, and while comfortable, they are compact and simply decorated. Guests get free breakfast and WiFi, a 24-hour fitness centre, an indoor pool, a terrace, a 24/7 market, and a lively lobby with workspace and a game zone. Meeting rooms, a business centre, secure parking and pet-friendly policies make it workable for families, business travellers and road trippers passing through the Des Moines area. Hard-surface floors replace carpet throughout. One drawback worth knowing: rooms lack microwaves and coffee makers, and some guests find the beds less comfortable than expected.
